According to Small Screen, Henry Cavill recently visited Marvel’s London offices “flanked by several people”. While the specific purpose of his visit isn’t specified, the publication claims he was there to “chat with some Marvel people” because the actor prefers in-person meetings.

Superman fans were shocked when Henry Cavill exited his role as one of DC Comics’ most popular superheroes in 2018. At the time, the reason for the split apparently occurred when negotiations for a Cavill cameo in Shazam! broke down due to scheduling conflicts.

Naturally, news of Henry Cavill’s departure caused a stir among fans, with some seizing the opportunity to campaign for the actor to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe instead. Now it seems like they might get their wish.

Henry Cavill is currently one of the busiest stars in Hollywood, so realistically the meeting could have been for several reasons that have nothing to do with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But since nothing is confirmed fans can remain hopeful.

Interestingly, the most popular fan-selected Marvel character for Henry Cavill is The Sentry. It’s a fitting choice as The Sentry is pretty much a twisted version of Superman that exists in the Marvel Universe. For those who are unfamiliar with the character here’s a little background…

Robert Reynolds starts out as an overweight, middle-aged man who remembers that he is The Sentry, a superhero whose “power of one million exploding suns” is derived from a special serum. Realizing that his archenemy The Void is returning, Reynolds seeks out several prominent Marvel characters to warn them. And to figure out why no one remembers The Sentry.

But there’s a very cool plot twist. The Sentry and The Void are the same person, which is why Reynolds had erased all memory of his superhero career in the first place.

Meanwhile, Henry Cavill has a few new projects in the works, including a Highlander reboot, Matthew Vaughn’s new spy franchise Argylle. He will also be reprising his role as Sherlock Holmes for the Enola Holmes sequel.

The second season of The Witcher will also be on its way very soon. The story is said to begin with Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill) taking Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen, where he will strive to protect Ciri from the mysterious power she possesses inside while the Continent’s kings, elves, humans, and demons strive for supremacy outside the walls of the castle, located within the Kingdom of Kaedwen.

While no specific release date has been given yet, Netflix has confirmed that the Henry Cavill starrer will be returning in the second half of 2021 with a third season already in the works. Netflix is also developing The Witcher: Blood Origin, a six-part prequel series set 1200 years before Geralt walked the lands of the Northern Kingdoms, and The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, an anime feature film centered around Vesemir, Geralt’s close friend and mentor.
